BIOGRAPHY

Chee Piau a clinician, a researcher and diehard Digital Health enthusiast. He started the annual Telemedicine National Conference and Telemedicine National Innovation Challenge in Malaysia since 2015, building a digital health ecosystem in Malaysia from ground zero. From bringing the stakeholders together in the first conference, he has strategically built a vibrant ecosystem in digital health. He founded the Telemedicine Development Group (TDG), a steering committee co-chaired by the Director General of Health, Ministry of Health (MOH) and Chairman of Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to advise the relevant stakeholders on digital health in Malaysia. He is also the founding president of the Association of Digital Health Malaysia (DHM), an industry led association to advocate and building an inclusive Digital Health ecosystem in Malaysia.

In his academic hat, Chee Piau established the multidisciplinary telemedicine research cluster in Monash University Malaysia, formulating a strategy for translational research in telemedicine. Now with University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Chee Piau is spearheading a project to create a patient centric healthcare ecosystem in Kampar Town with emphasis on health information exchange amongst all the healthcare providers to centralise patients’ healthcare information to improve healthcare to patients in Kampar. He has supervised a few doctoral research projects in digital health and obtained two pattens in digital health.

Robyn founded GUE Ecosystem in 2016 to increase healthcare access across Indonesia by connecting patients with doctors and pharmacies. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and Imperial College London with a degree in health management. 

GUE Ecosystem is a leading digital health ecosystem in Indonesia. GUE Ecosystem portfolio companies include TemanBumil, D2D, GoApotik, and Assist. TemanBumil is a leading pregnancy and parenting platform that empowers mothers by providing educational content, a warm community and the opportunity to build their business. D2D is a platform that enables doctors to pursue continuous medical education, manage their license more easily and connect with one another. GoApotik is an online pharmacy platform that enables over 4K pharmacies to sell prescription medication online on Indonesia's leading marketplace platforms, as well as telemedicine players. Assist is a clinic information system that aims to improve operation excellence and help promote the clinics digitally.

Darlington Akogo is a global leader in Artificial Intelligence. He's the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at minoHealth AI Labs; an AI Healthtech company; karaAgro AI; an AI-powered Plant & Pest Disease Detection and Precision Agriculture platform, Runmila AI Institute; an AI and Data Science training institute, and Gudra AI Studio; an organization broadly exploring AI and Exponential Technologies applied various domains including Transportation, Sanitation and Energy.

Akogo has been named one of the Global Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) in Healthcare. He's the Chair (Topic Driver) of the Topic Group on AI for Radiology under the United Nations International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and World Health Organization (WHO) Focus Group on 'Artificial Intelligence for Health' (FG-AI4H). At UN FG-AI4H, Akogo leads the development of global regulations and standards for AI in radiology. He is the Team Leader (Director) for GIZ AI4Cashew project. KaraAgro AI won the contract to implement the activity “Leveraging Machine Learning For the Ghanaian Cashew Sector Based on Drone and Satellite Imagery Data'' for FAIR Forward. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) implements the project “FAIR Forward – Artificial Intelligence for All”. He also serves as the Principal Investigator and Director for the Lacuna Fund project, Drone-Based Agricultural Dataset for Crop Yield Estimation, by KaraAgro AI in collaboration with Makerere AI Lab (Makerere University). He serves as the Director for another Lacuna Fund project in health under the title, Datasets for AI-Based Diagnosis of Malaria, which is a collaboration between Makerere AI Lab (Makerere University) and MinoHealth AI Lab. He serves as the AI Lead (Consultant) for the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Lab (RAIL) under Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and GIZ. He served as the Lead (Ghana) for the Lacuna Fund project, Crop Disease & Pest Image Data, by Makerere University and KaraAgro AI, the Nelson-Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, and Namibia University of Science and Technology, where he leads a team of 40 people across industry, academia and government towards the creation of large robust datasets for computer vision solutions towards early disease and pest detection. In addition to this work, Akogo served as a member of the MIT Tech Review Global Panel.

Akogo also taught as a Lecturer (Adjunct Faculty) of Artificial Intelligence at Academic City College, where he created a new Deep Learning AI curriculum for the university and served as the Bioinformatics (AI & Data Analytics) Resource Person at West African Centre for Cell Biology and Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP). Akogo is an Advisory Board Member and Ambassador to West Africa at AI Expo Africa, the largest business focused AI community in Africa. He is a member of the MIT Tech Review Global Panel. And he's a Global Shaper under the World Economic Forum. Hanna is leading the UNICEF Venture Fund from their Stockholm office, investing in frontier tech startup solutions from emerging markets that are just and open to all, particularly those who are routinely underrepresented, to benefit children and youth, everywhere. Prior to UNICEF, Hanna has worked in the global asset management and financial services industry, leading change initiatives within corporate- and investment strategy. During this time, she has also had an interest for blockchain technology and its usage within financial services, a curiosity that started during her work on the topic with the World Economic Forum 2015.

Hassan has a global view of digital health, and is deeply connected in the UK ecosystem.

He was appointed by the UK Government to develop and promote the national digital health offers for inward investment and international trade between 2018 and 2022. Prior to that, he had been a successful entrepreneur and founder with a successful exit (Health iQ sold to CorEvitas LLC in 2019).

He now adds commercial expertise to the National Health Service (NHS) at one of the world’s top 5 children’s hospitals (Great Ormond Street Hospital) as well as at the cancer real world evidence hub of the UK national institute for health data science (DATA-CAN; The Health Data Research UK Hub for Cancer).

He is now a Founder at Vita, which makes digital health solutions easier to adopt and faster to scale. He retains a portfolio career, and is currently the Global Digital Health Specialist at P4, an Expert-in-Residence at The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering at King’s College London, a Visiting Lecturer at UCL Global Business School for Health, a mentor at accelerators including the NHS Innovation Accelerator and KQ Labs, and a Vice Chair of HIMSS UK & Ireland.

Chet oversees the development of 22Health Ventures’ Singapore-APAC ecosystem. Prior to joining 22Health, Chet served as the ASEAN Healthcare Industry Lead for Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he was responsible for healthcare go-to-market strategy. He was also the founding Chief Operating Officer for Good Doctor Technology, a startup joint venture between Ping An and Grab where he led cross-geography medical teams and business operations across Southeast Asia. Chet’s career spans over 20 years in a variety of regional healthcare and business transformation/innovation leadership roles; from a medical doctor trained in surgery (orthopaedics) to management at Raffles Medical Group and as Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry Leader for Deloitte Southeast Asia. Other leadership/C-Suite appointments for Chet were with iHH Healthcare Berhad as Parkway Pantai VP/CEO of Parkway Laboratories and Ananda Development PCL as Chief Innovation Officer.

Mr Veneeth Purushotaman, Group CIO at Aster DM Healthcare based out of Dubai and responsible for the technology across the 7 countries Aster operates in and across all the business verticals that include Hospitals, Clinics, Labs and Pharmacies.

Veneeth has worked across the Retail, Pharmaceutical, Education and now Healthcare and has driven large technology transformation projects in his career that spans across 2 decades.

Veneeth joined Aster DM Healthcare in 2018 and have been instrumental in driving a large technology consolidation and transformation across the group and is one of the key leaders supporting the Digital Transformation project underway at Aster.

Veneeth is a ISB-Kellogg and Columbia Business School Alumni, a Certified Healthcare CIO and member of the HIMSS APAC and CHIME India Chapter.

Among the several awards and accolades he is a CIO Hall of Fame honoree and is among the Top 3 CIOS in Middle East as per the Top 50 CIOs Middle East by IDC 2023.

Pauline leads the National Health Innovation Centre (NHIC) as Director, facilitating the innovation, development, commercialisation and adoption of health technologies at public hospital clusters in Singapore. Prior to this, she helmed the Innovation and Enterprise Directorate at the National Research Foundation of the Prime Minister’s Office, developing key signatures in Singapore’s tech ecosystem, such as the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH), SGInnovate, Deep Tech Venture Funds and Accelerators, international and public-private partnerships. Pauline has also served in industry as the Chairperson of Technology, Innovation and Productivity at the Singapore Business Federation, Executive Director and Head of Innovation Partnerships at UBS, and COO/CSO at Celligenics. Pauline is technically trained with a PhD in stem cell biology/regenerative medicine and spent 15 years at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

Dr Ramon Varughese is currently the Chief Medical Officer for the Qualitas Medical Group, Malaysia as well as the Country Head of Qualitas Bangladesh. Aside to this, he is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Taylors University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Manipal, India in 2008.

After his graduation, he served the Ministry of Health in Malaysia in various parts of the country. He started his career as a House Officer and completed his training in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. He then was stationed at Hospital Tambunan, Sabah for a total of 4 years covering the interiors of Sabah. During his practice as a Medical Officer in Sabah he was exposed to various conditions and developed his skills in acute medicine, surgery and primary care.

In 2014, Dr Ramon was transferred to the Ministry of Health, Putrajaya to the Medical Practice Division as a Principal Assistant Director. He was directly in charge of regulatory and enforcement affairs for private healthcare facilities in Malaysia. During his tenure there, he travelled across the country visiting and ensuring good governance in medical practice among the private healthcare facilities. He has continuously practiced medicine throughout this time at various clinics around the Klang Valley and participated in numerous medical screening camps during this period.

In 2016, he left the government service to take up the role as Senior Manager of Medical Services at Qualitas Medical Group. He was tasked to ensure good medical governance in all Qualitas clinics across the country. Despite his hectic schedule, he still finds time to keep in touch with his medical practice by doing regular clinical work in the various Qualitas clinics. He is actively involved in the many Medical Screening programmes conducted by Qualitas and gives health talks to various corporate bodies on topics of interest.

He currently leads the Medical Services of around 100 doctors in Primary Care clinics in Malaysia, leads the management teams for to Ambulatory Care Centres providing day care specialist services, as well the group of dental clinics providing high end dental services. Aside to that, Dr Ramon is also leading Qualitas’ expansion in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As a Senior Adjunct Lecturer to the Taylors University School of Medicine, he imparts his experience and knowledge to final year medical school students on various topics, including regulatory compliance and the business of medicine.

He is a life member of both the Malaysian Medical Association as well an Exco of Manipal Alumni Association in Malaysia. He is a member of Rotary International advocating humanitarian efforts to the less fortunate. He plays an active role in all their activities keeping himself abreast with medical treatments and its advancements.

Ian is an Information Systems Specialist who has delivered custom web solutions for complex data problems in various sectors. His contextually agnostic data engine has been used in numerous government and private-sector projects.

In 2018, he formed Axonium, to develop a blockchain powered platform that enables individuals to retain control of their information, whilst enabling universal health breakthroughs via the use of ethically sourced data.

A former Analytics Manager at Deloitte, he has developed critical data systems for projects in Australia worth $6 billion, and designed solutions for Ramsay Health Care, Perth Children’s Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, HealthNext, and others.

Dr Zachery Yeo serves as the Director of the Digital Accelerator Unit at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. This program is designed to bridge the gap between ideation and productization, propelling startups into the increasingly digital healthcare landscape. Additionally, he is an Emergency Resident Physician at Alexandra Hospital and collaborates with the NUHS Innovation Office as part of the Holomedicine team. This team focuses on integrating holographic technology to enhance clinical practice for healthcare professionals.

Sutowo is the Director, Health Analytics Division at Ministry of Health (MOH) Singapore. He leads a team of data scientists, statisticians and economists in applying artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), operations research, systems modeling, geospatial analytics, forecasting, econometrics, visualisation and primary research in support of MOH’s priorities in policy formulation and review, service planning and operations. He is also responsible for leading capability development, publication, and outreach regarding data analytics and AI in MOH.

Prior to his role in MOH, he was in various analytics leadership roles in management consulting with experience across various domains such as customer, fraud/risk, HR and operations. He worked with organisations in public service, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, CPG, retail, telco, banking, insurance, energy, airlines and hospitality in Southeast Asia, China, India and Japan.

Dr Hong Weiwei graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore and a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is a public health specialist with more than 12 years of working experience in the Ministry of Health (Singapore). She has led teams in services planning for new hospitals, national dialysis and transplant policies, early childhood intervention programmes as well as assessing and developing new models of care, such as community eye clinics and urgent care centres.

She is currently the Director, Office for Service Transformation at SingHealth. Her work covers driving strategic service transformation initiatives looking at care and process redesign, resource optimisation and new models of care, including Telemedicine projects as well as health services research with a focus on the impact of innovations.

Terence is the AWS lead for Asia Pacific (based in Singapore) for healthcare and life sciences. Terence qualified from Imperial College and worked in the NHS before returning to Singapore where he worked in the public, private, NGO and government sectors before moving into clinical AI. He is an immunologist and primary care physician by training with a special interest in personalized nutrition, occupational & digital health.

Just prior to joining AWS, Terence was the Global Medical Director for Ubie.

Her work focuses on improving the transparency, efficiency, and reliability of vaccine distribution, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Mansi's expertise in public health supply chains allows her to build solutions that not only strengthen logistical processes but also promote better coverage, data accuracy, and health outcomes. She believes that technology, when applied thoughtfully, can be a powerful tool to bridge gaps in essential services. At StaTwig, Mansi collaborates closely with international organizations, including UNICEF and WHO, ensuring that VaccineLedger aligns with global health standards and contributes to impactful health interventions. Mansi's work is not only driven by innovation but also by a deep commitment to making a difference in communities that need it the most.

Dr. Shravan Verma, an M.D. graduate from Duke-NUS Medical School and a biomedical and electrical engineering graduate from Duke University, founded Speedoc to bring hospital-level care into homes. Speedoc, a leading digital health startup in Singapore, has raised $34 million from investors like Vertex Ventures and Shinhan Ventures. It offers services such as house call doctors, virtual care, medication delivery, and remote diagnostics. Speedoc's H-Ward® virtual hospital program has saved 30,000 bed days and treated over 8,000 patients. Dr. Verma has received numerous accolades, including the Singapore National Awards Public Service Medal, and has been recognized for his Good Samaritan acts.

Hyma is Co-founder and CEO of Avyantra Health Technologies, a healthcare start-up based in India. She has led her team to be a part of Unicef Innovation Fund’s 2019 cohort of 13 global startups working on data science and blockchain technological innovations focused on healthcare sector. Her team is developing a machine learning platform for early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis, a condition that affects newborns, and is a chief cause for high neonatal mortality in India. The platform enables accessible and affordable digital healthcare. Hyma Goparaju is an MBA with a PhD from IBS Hyderabad and over 20 years of industry experience.

Avyantra Health Technologies was founded in 2017 and is based at Hyderabad, India. The founders together with its team from healthcare domain and data analytics sectors have been working on developing innovative digital health solutions for addressing critical healthcare problems and improving access to equitable healthcare. Prof Lee Chien Earn is currently the Deputy Group CEO (Regional Health System), SingHealth where he leads population health efforts to enable residents in Eastern Singapore to keep well, get well and live well. He also chairs the Planning Committee for the upcoming Eastern General and Community Hospitals.

His pass appointments include CEO of Changi General Hospital, and Deputy Director of Medical Services for Health Services and Healthcare Performance in the Ministry of Health Singapore where he led the strategic development and improvement of healthcare services.

Prof Lee is an Adjunct Professor with three institutions of higher learning i.e., Saw Swee Hock Scholl of Public Health, National University of Singapore, Duke-NUS Medical School and Singapore University of Technology and Design. He was a member of several international committees and the World Health Organisation, International Hospital Federation and Joint Commission International.

Prof Lee co-edited Singapore Health Care System: What 50 Years Have Achieved (2015) and contributed the chapter on Strategies for Health Services in the 6th edition of the Oxford Textbook of Public Health (2015). He has also published and presented in international journals and conferences, respectively.

Osama is a Software Engineer by training with more than 20 years of extensive digital health experience and qualifications. He is recognized as a leading figure in digital health committed to enhancing healthcare services on local, regional and international levels.

After many years in academia, he joined Dubai Health Authority in 2012 to shape and drive an ambitious digital health strategy which includes several transformative initiatives and regulatory frameworks. However, he still maintains strong ties with academia through his adjunct lecturer role at the college of health sciences at the Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE. His contributions span across various public and private sector entities, enabling him to effectively support public-private sector collaborations and startups acceleration programs.

Currently at the helm of a prominent NGO namely ZIMAM which is dedicated to workforce development in digital health. Dr Elhassan has extensive exposure to a number of current and previous health professional organizations' appointments. Recognized with the HIMSS 50 Award in 2021, Osama holds a Master degree in Advanced Computing from Imperial College and a PhD in Software Architecture from University of Leicester. He is propelled by his fervent dedication to advancing healthcare through innovation, collaboration and strategic leadership.

She has strong track record of driving business innovation and start-ups with robotics and digitalization.
